Yeah, I know … When you’ve tried and failed so many times to take off the extra weight, promising you’ll lose 2-4 lbs every week seems like a fairy tale, right? Well, let me take it one step further… I’m gonna show you how to take it off…and then KEEP it off for good! I can say it because I’ve DONE it in 2008! You may remember last year when I wrote you to tell you how my age, my work, and my eating had “taken over” my body and one day I looked in the mirror and was SHOCKED at how I’d let myself go. ME! The owner of a fitness WEBSITE! I guess my point is that gaining “unexpected” weight can happen to ANYONE if you’re not paying attention. To be honest, I wasn’t looking forward to taking off the weight. I frankly don’t have a lot of time in my day to workout like a madman and I enjoy food WAY too much. And then I realized that I had fallen into the same trap everyone else does… …thinking that “losing weight” has to be a horrible, long, boring, path of SUFFERING! The fact is (and ** PLEASE pay close attention to this! **)… …losing weight can actually be a SIMPLE and ENJOYABLE process…IF you know a few “shortcuts”! Here are some of the secrets I learned as I stripped off 35 POUNDS of body fat in just 12 WEEKS in 2008 (AND…KEPT IT OFF all year long!)… >> I STOPPED “Dieting” That’s right…I gave up on “dieting” a long time ago once I realized that just SAYING the word “diet” brought about all kinds of negative emotions. And besides…the answer ISN’T to deprive yourself of the foods you love. It’s just a matter of learning how to eat them “smarter”! For example, I LOVE peanut butter. Whenever I’ve tried to give it up on the past, I would end up craving it so much that I’d go on an all-out scarf-n-barf binge of it…and then beat myself up with guilt for “failing” once again. But now, I actually ENJOY eating peanut butter and I eat it right after my strength training workouts when my body actually NEEDS the extra sugar to help my muscles recover! >> I STOPPED “Counting Calories This is one of the most misunderstood weight loss “myths” that people just don’t get. We know that if you have a “calorie deficit” of about 3,500 calories, then that is equal to one pound of body fat, right? The problem is that you can’t simply break out a calculator and add up the numbers on the food box. Food is actually “thermogenic”, meaning that you BURN calories just by eating food – and different foods burn calories at different rates! So the only way to truly “count calories” is to take into account the thermogenic effect of all of your food…in other words…it’s IMPOSSIBLE! What to do instead? Count “servings” of different types of food! For example, for your day’s meals, you may take in 6 servings of protein, 3 servings of “good fat”, and 4 servings of carbohydrates. When you look at your food as individual “servings”, then it makes eating to lose weight so amazingly simple, you’ll wonder why anyone EVER “counts calories”. >> I had a PLAN! This is THE most powerful tip I can give you so LISTEN CAREFULLY! “Weight loss tips” you find in a magazine or newsletter are fine. But they’re just that…”TIPS”! Taken individually, “tips” may help you burn a bit of fat here and there. But if you’re really looking to take off the extra pounds FAST and PERMANENTLY, then you need a full-blown PLAN that fits EASILY into your lifestyle. I struggled with this FOREVER because I just couldn’t find a fat loss program that I could stick with all the way to the end and then MAKE it stick so I didn’t gain the weight back. Then last year, I took part in a “challenge” that a friend of mine started. Jeff Anderson is the author and creator of “Combat The Fat”, the weight loss program that uses principles Jeff learned while in the U.S. Military, to completely transform your body.
